Frozen Windows

The idea to freeze photos of windows, especially those in cathedrals, churches, mosques, mansions and ruins came to me because as a child, sitting in church, I always looked at those imposing windows. And in my experience, it was always freezing in the church. The frozen windows reflect the atmosphere for me; freezing, mysteriously, dark and impressive.

The technique I used for these photo montages is the following: I printed my photos of those windows and put them in a container with water and froze them. I take the ice block, with the photo frozen in it, from the container and hold it in front of the falling sunlight so that the sun shines through the windows, as it were. Meanwhile, the ice block tumbles, the ice melts or a piece falls out, contributing to the final effect.
